Most SEO plugins help you optimise a post while you are writing it. Stedica SEO starts from the other end: it audits the pages you already published, scores every issue by severity, and gives you one screen to work through them — with an approval workflow and bulk apply behind it.
It is also built to be installed alongside whatever SEO plugin you already use. Stedica reads and writes Yoast, Rank Math, SEOPress and All in One SEO metadata, so the Stedica box edits whatever plugin currently owns your metadata. Its own tags are gap-filled: if something else already emitted a title, Stedica stays quiet rather than producing a second one.
A reviewer told us our free plugin was too limited. They were right.
The WordPress.org review team found that the free plugin capped audits at 100 URLs and redirects at 25. Rather than lift just those two numbers, we removed every licence check on code that ships in the free package.
Eight things moved from Premium to free as a result. Premium did not shrink in value — it now sells only capability that genuinely is not in the free download. Nothing in Premium unlocks something you already have on disk.

Verified against the built 3.21.0 free package on a real install with no licence present: a full audit processed 878 of 878 pages, 40 of 40 redirects saved, and the orphan and cannibalisation passes flagged 918 and 429 pages.

The Stedica column is verified against the built 3.21.0 packages. The competitor columns reflect Yoast SEO 28.3, Rank Math 1.0.276, All in One SEO 5.0.0.1 and SEOPress 10.1 as installed on our test site in August 2026, and were not re-checked for this revision — feature sets and tier boundaries move, so if you spot something out of date, tell us and we will correct it. To be fair about where they are strong: Rank Math gives away redirects and 404 logging and has a role manager, SEOPress is excellent value and offers white labelling, Yoast has the largest ecosystem and the most add-ons, and All in One SEO has a good link assistant.

Questions, answered
What is the difference between the free edition and Premium?
The free edition is complete. It audits every URL on your site, stores as many redirects as you need, and everything it does it does fully — nothing is capped, watermarked or half-written. Premium is a separate add-on that brings capability the free plugin does not contain: AI writing, Google Search Console and Analytics, Core Web Vitals, keyword rank tracking, content decay, scheduled auditing and scheduled link checking, internal linking suggestions, multi-location Local SEO, the redirect importers and multisite.
Did the free version really used to be capped?
Yes — 100 audit URLs and 25 redirects, until 3.21.0. The WordPress.org review team flagged it, they were right, and rather than raise the two numbers we removed every licence check on code that ships in the free package. Fix Mode, orphan detection, keyword cannibalisation, schema validation, quick wins and on-demand broken-link scanning all became free at the same time.
Do I have to remove Yoast, Rank Math, SEOPress or AIOSEO?
No. Stedica detects the active SEO plugin and reads and writes its metadata fields, so both stay in sync. Its own tags are gap-filled, so you never end up with two title tags. You can audit your site today without migrating anything.
Is Premium a separate plugin, or does it replace the free one?
Separate. Premium installs alongside the free plugin and both stay active — two rows in your plugins list, the way Yoast Premium and SEOPress PRO work. Premium contains only the paid features and uses the free plugin's code, so it cannot run without it. WordPress enforces that: it will not activate Premium without Stedica SEO, and will not let you deactivate Stedica SEO while Premium is active.
What happens to my redirects if my licence lapses?
Nothing. Redirects are part of the free plugin and there is no limit on them, so every rule you created keeps working and you can still add, edit, disable and delete them exactly as before. A lapsed licence only stops the separate Premium add-on from updating.
Is AI required?
No. Every AI feature is optional, lives in Premium, and stays off until you add your own API key. The free plugin audits, scores and edits everything without ever calling a model. When you do use AI, you pay your provider directly and the AI Costs page tracks token usage and estimated spend per page and per month.
What is the MCP server?
A companion, not part of the download. It runs on your own machine and talks to the plugin's REST API using a WordPress application password, so an AI assistant can read your audit and make improvements directly. Nothing extra is exposed on your website.
Does it work with Elementor?
Yes. Content, H1 detection, word count, readability and image alt scanning all read Elementor's stored page data, which a normal post_content read would miss.
Will it slow down my site?
Front-end work is minimal: the plugin outputs meta tags on singular pages and does one indexed lookup for redirects. Scanning and AI calls happen in the admin area or on a schedule, never during a visitor's page load.
